Chillin' at JazzFest

We went to Jazz Fest tonight, not to see any big names, but to enjoy the sights and sounds, people watch, and run up and down hills.Going to get ice cream with Grandpa.
Making a HUGE ice cream mess. Grandpa is out of ice cream/kid practice.
And getting utterly exhausted from running, rolling, and sliding down this hug hill. It was a fun Sunday.

Toy Story 3

We surprised the kids.......we all loved it!

Elizabeth was a little weirded out by the 3-D glasses but still loved the movie......even though she watched a lot of it blurry.

Bluegrass in the park

The concerts in the park have begun.......another real sign that summer is here. We headed down with Mark, Ciochi and the kids tonight for some Bluegrass fun.
The kids payed so nicely, and independently, on the playground and kicking the soccer ball around.

We brought snacks and enjoyed the music.

Elizabeth was especially into the music. So much it compelled her to strip, twice!! I had to tell her, as straight faced as possible, that she was going to time out for her second stripping offense. She even had her shirt in her hand and was twirling it on her hip. Oh brother!

It was a great night and we are looking forward to lots of fun Thursdays!

Last Day of School

Today was the kids last day of school and Patrick's *sniff sniff* last day of Pre-K. The last day is always a family picnic that we have grown to love as a family. When we arrived it was POURING rain so all the festivities were inside. Thank goodness for the church's fellowship hall!
Mr. Softee was there so the kids were excited for ice cream.....as well as other goodies......after their pizza lunch.
We met up with the Gallauresi's and other friends from the kid's classes.
And then, the sun came out and dried up all the rain. Off to the playground! Liz loved running on the bike track and playing in the sand pit. Patrick was hard to find. He was running on the nature trail with friends from class.
Elizabeth spent a lot of time on the tire pony. It was her favorite.
She did manage to share. She was excited to push her friend Henna. I was excited to meet Henna because we hear so much about her.
Just as we were calming down and getting ready to say good-bye (and take some good bye pictures) the battery on my camera died. Figures. This is the only teacher picture......Liz with Gloria.......a two for one, I guess as the other lady in the back was Patrick's teacher Karen. It really isn't the end, we will be there a couple days a week this summer for camp, so I can sneak in some pictures then.

Monkey Bars

Patrick discovered........
that he has grown so big and strong........
that he can do the..........
monkey bars all by himself..........
with no help or spotting or even...........
reassurance from Mom or Dad.
Patrick did the monkey bars, start to finish, by himself three times. We called Dad, who was driving back from Philly, because we were so proud. Tuesday night Patrick was back out there to show Dad first hand his new accomplishment. I can't believe he is big enough to do it!

Flag Day!

Aunt Heather, Patrick, Elizabeth, Leah, and Davis (and perhaps Uncle John) made me a surprise FLAG DAY cake over the weekend because they know that Flag Day i s my favorite non-gift giving holiday. Since today was Flag Day, Patrick, Elizabeth, and Megan were happy to enjoy some flag cake as dessert. Thanks Aunt Heather.......it was a great surprise!!

Glogging

So I am taking a mini class about something cool called Glogging.....making an on-line poster. I didn't bring anything to make so I made one about the kids. It's quick and cheesy but check it out.

A Busy Saturday

After soccer today we went to a Taste of Syracuse for lunch. Then it was down to Old Home Days in Marcellus for some festival fun and to watch the parade. Oh, and to catch lots of candy!!
Before the parade we walked around town a bit and got a slushy.
Yummy!!

Here comes the parade!!! Last year we watched the end of the parade. Being on Main Street this year was much more festive.
Bring on the sugar!!
Old Home Days should be dubbed June-o-ween. The amount of candy the kids got from a 45 minute parade was nuts.
The kids were eager to wave to all the floats......and then even more eager that waving meant thrown candy!
As the high school marching band came by Elizabeth was groovin' away.
Our kids don't have that greed factor that so many kids do when they get older. The just picked up the candy off the road that they liked, they didn't aim to get all of it. There was a lot that they left behind.
Elizabeth was so excited to see the cheerleaders and their float. She just loves cheerleaders!

Pat loading up on more sugar........we are so surprised that there weren't any massive belly aches after all the junk we let our kids have today. What a treat.
After the parade we stopped at the Episcipal church for strawberry shortcake. The kids had more sugar......this time cotton candy that a group was passing out in the parade.
Mom is a sucker and had to get the kids a treat from a Taste of Syracuse to bring home. There was a stand selling awesome cookies......we had to get one. Pat got a giant lion, of course.
And a giant flower for Elizabeth........and Mommy, who had to share it.

We ended our busy Saturday by staying up really late - past 10! - and going to watch the Old Home Days fireworks. Ciochi had quite a set-up in teh back of her truck. Like Liz's scary face??? It was great to watch the kids have fun and ooohh and aaahhh over the fireworks.

Sunny Soccer

Today's soccer pictures are way different than the last set. It was beautiful out today.........for the most part.
Elizabeth was able to get out there for a little bit today, before all the drills started. She is excited for soccer in the fall.
Patrick did pretty good today.
He's got professional stance down pat.
Elizabeth relaxing.......Daddy's feet are more comfortable than the Barbie chair.

After some drills the kids played a "real" game. I don't think any of them knew what they were doing but the coaches did a great job of making sure the kids were having fun and the ball was going in the right direction!

Patrick was really funny during the game. He would be behind all the other kids and then something would click telling him he should get right in there.......so he would run at top speed to get to the ball.
Megan gives us some good chuckles out on the soccer field too. She wanted to be in goal and bullied everyone out, and then PROTECTED it. That was until........
she realized that she had the hots for her coach! We were joking that she was probably telling him how great it was that they matched. Megan wandered around the field with him for at least five minutes. At one point he was running with her so that he could help the other kids. It was really cute.
