Summer Vacay - Week #5

This was a low key week.  Both kids went to their last day of rec on Monday.  Tuesday was Liz's big day - she had her tonsils and adenoids removed.  She was great and in good spirits until they tried to put the mask on her to make her go to sleep.  She freaked out and clutched me for dear life, which of course made my upper lip quiver and eyes well up.  I held it together for her and she did calm down.  She was upset in recovery too but my snuggles put her at ease.  All week Liz has relaxed, eaten ice cream and Popsicles and watched a ton of TV - just what she wanted.
Patrick participated in a golf camp every morning at Dad's golf course.  I wasn't allowed to take any pictures but was able to sneak this one as he was walking (by himself!!) into camp one morning.  He had fun golfing with the older kids and learned a lot.
On Saturday we went out to a camp that Brian's aunts and uncles rented on Oswaco Lake for a visit.  It was a gorgeous house and a fun visit.

Summer Vacay - Week #4

Since I took the kids to Fairmount Glen last week they, especially Patrick, have become obsessed with mini-golf.  While I was getting ready for dinner and putting the groceries away on Monday the kids made their own mini-golf course.  I was invited to play and think I won, although Patrick will tell you differently.  I believe it was 7 holes, all made with things from around the house like the kitchen stool, things from the recycle bin, Dad's boots, and cones.   The hole was from Gator Golf........my club too.  And I still won!
Tuesday was an easy day.  The kids had rec and Liz had tennis.  It was so HOT but she hung in there!
Wednesday I took the kids to Thunder Island.  Mark and Amy took Sarah Jane and Will, just by coincidence, which was a great surprise for the kids.  We started off by playing their mini-golf course.  I defeated Patrick......he'll tell you it was his worst round ever!  Then the kids had fun playing in the kiddi pool, laying in the lazy river, and going down the water slides.  Amy and I rode back with all the kids and had ice cream for dinner.  Only ok in the summer.
 Pat showing off riding backwards.

It was a fun place, better than I expected.
I watched Will and Sarah for a bit Thursday morning.  The kids were so cute looking at old photo albums and talking about them like they were 60 years old!  Pat went to the Jordan pool again on Thursday after rec and went off the high dive.  Liz and I went to the library where she made two crafts, a genie in a bottle and a firefly, played on the computer and of course, checked out books.  And a Hanna Montana movie!  Liz did great at her last tennis lesson too!
Liz got a surprise on Friday after rec.................I found great roller skates at a garage sale.  She LOVES them!
Pat called me outside on Friday to show me this............his way of getting to the rim.  Awesome.  There is a rock on top of the little chair, for just enough height.  Oh boy.

We hung out at Mark and Amy's on Friday night.  The kids were in all their glory playing with all the neighborhood kids.  The ran all over, roasted marshmallow's and caught frogs from the pond.
Pat played basketball forever.  He hung in there great with guys going into 7th grade!  Saturday was another busy day.  Will's birthday party was in the early afternoon.  After Will's party we ran out to Cicero for Leah and Davis's party.  Aunt Heather had invited the kids to spend the night so after the party they all had a campout in the backyard, and mom and dad had a fun date.  Thanks Aunt Heather!  All in all, another awesome week!

Summer Vacay - Week #3

The mini golf masters!!  Patrick is so competitive and so intense when he plays mini-golf!
We had a busy week this week.  It's great to be doing lots of fun stuff but sometimes I think all this fun is making the summer slip away really fast.  I want to hold on to EVERY second of it.  Monday we invited Connor and Cayden over for a play date/swim date.  Every one played very nicely together and Patrick was soooo excited to spend time with his buddy.  That evening Liz started a 4 week dance class called Hip Tap Toe.   She is finally old enough to do some funkier dancing with the older girls.  She loved every second.  There are videos I will post at the end of this post because I took them with the phone and not my camera.  The above picture is one I have to submit to Lego magazine for Patrick.  One of his creations :)  Tuesday the kids both went on a field trip after rec - to CJ's House of Bounce.  I was nervous to send them but they had a blast.  While Dad was golfing on Wednesday we went mini golfing.  Patrick beat me, pretty much fair and square.  A rematch is coming soon.  Thursday Patrick went on another field trip, this time to the Jordan Pool.   It was a great time and he wants to go next week too.  I was out Thursday night so the kids went to a Chiefs game with Dad, and of course, had a ton of fun.  Friday was a relax day and Saturday was football/cheer sign-ups and we went to visit the new home of one of our friends from college.  We all have kids now and this is really the first time they all got to play.
There were squirt guns, a sprinkler and WATER BALLOONS.  The kids were soaked but always smiling.  Patrick played really nicely with Jacob and Joshua.  Look at him trying to threaten his mom!
Brian was the water balloon master.  He is such a great guy and especially Dad!!
Liz and Kate were like two peas in a pod and also played so nicely.  Maybe they'll be future Omicron sisters like their moms :)

Summer Vacay - Week #2

This week the kids started rec.  Liz goes to swim lessons before rec and both kids are there from 9-12.  It's great for them to play and me to try to get some stuff done in peace.  Both are enjoying it.  Pat had his friend Jonas over and then went to play at his house later in the week.  They are good buddies.  Since school let out the kids have been BUGGING me to have a lemonade stand.  Since we live on such a busy road I thought July 3rd would be a great day to do it because I knew family would be driving by to get out to Otisco Lake for the fireworks.  The kids made a sign and I bought balloons to attract customers.  It was slow to start and they were getting disappointed but then Aunt Di and Gary came, Uncle Bill, Uncle Dan and Grandpa, Aunt Peg, Uncle Joe and Megan, Uncle Mark, Sarah Jane and Will, Aunt Robin, Matthew and his friend, and Dad.  A stranger even stopped!
T
Lemonade was $.50 and so was a healthy snack.  The kids were good servers (and consumers!) and made $12.00 each!
We went to Aunt Pam and Uncle Rich's for a cook out and July 3rd fireworks.  First came a boat ride though.
There was lots for the kids to do.  Pat played a lot of basketball and badminton.  Liz ran with the girls all night.
The fireworks were too much for Liz's ear so she hung inside and snuggled the dogs.  Fourth of July we stayed at home, swam and relaxed.  The kids slept over Aunt Jaime's two nights later so we could go to a wedding.
And Saturday was the clambake at Grandpa's.  I think the kids spent 6 hours in the pool.  They had lots of cousins and Uncles to play with and loved it!  Pat was part of an intense water ball game.
 Plotting his next move.

Sunday we went back to Grandpa's and spent more time in the pool.  Liz is doing awesome jumping in and swimming on her own.  It was like a switch just went on.  It is great to watch.  The highlight of the day was pencil jumps through the tubes.
