Philly Zoo
Before our drive home we went to the Philly Zoo. It is the oldest zoo in America you know, although not founded by Benjamin Franklin like I thought.
As soon as we got through the gate we encountered an animal........a male peacock just walking around. Patrick had a hard time resisting scaring it away like he does to seagulls and pigeons.
Posing under the water fall in the big cat area.
There was a great display and lots of hands on stuff near the big cats.
Waiting to ride the carousel.
There was a really cool carousel at the zoo. Instead of horses there were all different animals to ride on. Pat chose a jaguar and Elizabeth rode a giant frog.
Below are a bunch of the animals that we saw at the zoo. They are all animals we don't see regularly.

The Mama and baby giraffe were a big hit. While we were admiring them the Mama gave the baby a kiss - to precious - but I was slow with the camera.
It was really hot during our visit, so the kids and Daddy were happy to find a sprinkler to stand under for a bit.
There were lots of animals that our zoo doesn't have, like a polar bear and gorilla. We watched the gorillas for a while because they had just gotten some icee's from the zoo keeper.
