Beach Day #2

We were supposed to leave today. However, we were able to stay one more day.....with a quick change of rooms. Good thing we did because we had a lot of fun. We drove up Route 6 to the National Seashore to spend some time at the ocean. After being turned away from one full beach we ended up at Marconi Beach, which was closed to swimmers. That was ok. Neither kid was interested in swimming and the wind was too strong for mom, she would have been cold. The day worked out.....although we were nervous because as we unpacked the car it was raining. The rain quickly moved on and the sun came in and out. We relaxed as a family and had a wonderful bonus day.
The water was closed to swimmers because storm was coming in. However, low tide and the storm brought out lots of surfers. They were great fun to watch.
Dad showed Patrick the waves and he was in love. He played in the water for a really long time.
Elizabeth was more interested in hanging with mom. She was all wrapped up in our beach blanket or snuggling on my lap people watching with me. I didn't argue.......I love the snuggling.
Lizzie eventually made it out of her chair, although she wouldn't check out the water, she was content to, what else......, play in the sand. I don't know what she was pretending, but she was chatting away with herself forever.
Patrick and Daddy walked up and down the beach several times. Patrick just loved playing in the surf.
Mom was right.......I knew he would love the ocean.
Patrick did play in the sand a bit too. He tried digging to China. Yup, I told him you could dig to China.........good occupier! He kept asking me what the China men would be wearing. I guess he needed to know when he encountered them in his foot deep hole.
