Tumbelina
Elizabeth and her good friend Leah go to tumbling class once a week. It is at the dance studio that Elizabeth will probably go to in the fall, for 1 hour. The girls have fun and I like sitting and chatting with Aunt Heather for the hour. The girls both like Thumbelina, so we have taken to calling Lizzie Tumbelina.
The first week the kids learned a bridge, forward, and backward somersault. Elizabeth is a cautious tumbler. She is still working on her forward roll. Jason jokes that we have to build her upper arm strength. Watching her is awesome. She listens well and you can see her thinking about all the steps that Jason explains. Sometimes we need to work on putting them all together and knocking down some of the think time. Here we go......first, squat.
Then we get ready to roll.
Sometimes we fall to the side.
And sometimes we need a push. And lots of times we make it!
Jason is a saint for being able to keep two three year olds and a four year old entertained for an hour. Sometimes they escape to see their mommy's in the waiting room. Elizabeth did, so I pushed her back in the room. Jason promptly called out to me that Miss Elizabeth wanted me to take a picture of her bridge. She knows just how to get my ultimate attention, huh?
Intense cartwheel lessons.
Elizabeth promised that she would be as stiff as a board.
The first time Jason helped her flip around not a hand or foot touched the mat. Some cartwheel!
